What does the Alpha 0E45 fault code mean?

The 0E45 code (sometimes displayed simply as E45) means the boiler has detected a 'High Delta T' — that is, an unexpectedly large temperature difference between the flow pipe (water leaving the boiler) and the return pipe (water coming back). When E45 triggers, the return water is significantly cooler than the boiler expects relative to the flow temperature, which tells the boiler that heat is not being distributed around the circuit quickly enough.
