Baxi Duo-tec Fault Codes
The Baxi Duo-tec Combi is one of the most numerous boilers in the country — a decade-plus of strong sales, especially into social housing and rental stock, means engineers see Duo-tecs daily. It uses Baxi's classic E-code scheme: E119 low pressure, E133 gas/ignition lockout, E110 overheat, E125 circulation, plus the sensor and fan codes of the platform. The Duo-tec's fault profile is arguably the best documented of any UK boiler simply through volume — whatever code yours is showing, thousands have shown it before. That cuts both ways: parts are cheap and everywhere, and a competent engineer diagnoses a Duo-tec quickly, but ageing examples in unserviced properties account for a lot of winter breakdown statistics. Where Duo-tec fault codes appear
The Duo-tec shows an E-prefixed code on its front display when a fault trips, in place of the usual temperature reading. On lockout the code typically flashes. Record the number exactly — the platform distinguishes, for example, E133 (gas supply/ignition) from E128 (flame loss in operation), and the difference matters diagnostically.
Resetting a Baxi Duo-tec
Turn the selector to reset (or press the reset button on later fascias) and hold briefly; the boiler retries. E119 needs a top-up to 1–1.5 bar at the filling loop first. E133 on a freezing morning: check and thaw the condensate pipe with warm water before resetting — it is the single most common Duo-tec winter rescue.
Common Duo-tec problems
The big three on Duo-tecs: E119 pressure loss, E133 ignition/gas supply (condensate freezes above all), and E125 circulation faults as pumps tire and systems sludge. Older Duo-tecs also see their share of E110 overheats and fan codes. Most repairs are inexpensive; the range's weakness is really the neglect it often operates under rather than the hardware itself.
