Baxi EcoBlue Fault Codes

The Baxi EcoBlue — sold as the EcoBlue Advance and EcoBlue+ in combi, system and heat-only forms — was Baxi's core range through the mid-2010s and remains on huge numbers of walls. It reports faults as E-codes on its digital display: E119 for low system pressure, E133 for the gas supply/ignition lockout that dominates winter callouts, E110 for overheat, and a supporting cast of fan, sensor and circulation codes. Baxi's E-code scheme is shared across much of the Baxi and Potterton stable of its era, so the meanings here are well-trodden territory for any Gas Safe engineer. Several of the commonest have homeowner-side first moves — E119 is a pressure top-up, E133 after a cold night means checking the condensate pipe before anything else — and the rest link through to full diagnosis pages below.

Where EcoBlue fault codes appear

The EcoBlue has a compact digital display on the fascia: temperature or status in normal running, an E-prefixed code when a fault trips. Some faults flash the code alternately with other information — the E-number is the part to record exactly.

Resetting a Baxi EcoBlue

Press and hold the reset button on the facia for a few seconds; the boiler clears the lockout and retries. E119 wants the system re-pressurised to 1–1.5 bar via the filling loop first. If a code returns straight after reset — E133 especially — stop and diagnose; repeated resets against an ignition fault are repeated failed gas admissions.

Common EcoBlue problems

EcoBlue owners meet E119 (pressure loss — these sealed systems weep as they age) and E133 (ignition/gas supply, with frozen condensate pipes the classic winter cause) far more than anything else. Behind them come E110 overheats where circulation is compromised — sludge and failing pumps — and fan/flue codes like E160. Clean system water and an annual service prevent the bulk of it.
