What does the Warmflow E48 fault code mean?
The E48 code appears on Warmflow Agentis series boilers when the internal pressure sensor detects that the water pressure in your central heating system has climbed above the safe upper limit — typically beyond around 2.5–3 bar. As a protective measure, the boiler shuts itself down and will not restart until the pressure is brought back into the normal operating range of 1.0–1.5 bar (shown in the green zone on the pressure gauge). It is worth noting that on certain Warmflow oil boiler models — notably the Eternal GU145 — E48 can instead signal a burner lockout after repeated failed ignition attempts, which points to a different set of causes such as oil supply blockages or airlocks rather than a pressure issue. How to fix it
- Check the pressure gauge reading DIY safe
Look at the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler. If the needle is above 2.5 bar, the system is genuinely overpressurised. If it reads within the green zone (roughly 1.0–1.5 bar when cold), the fault may be sensor-related rather than a true pressure problem.
