Ideal Evomax Fault Codes
The Ideal Evomax (and current Evomax 2) is Ideal's light-commercial range — wall-hung condensing boilers from 30kW up to 150kW, installed singly or in cascade in schools, care homes, commercial premises and large houses. It uses Ideal's familiar F/L code scheme, augmented by status and sequence information on its display, and in cascade installations each boiler reports its own faults. Context matters with commercial plant: an Evomax usually serves a building that cannot casually wait, installations involve controls (sequencers, BMS links) beyond the boiler itself, and work on commercial gas requires engineers with commercial (not just domestic) Gas Safe categories. The code meanings below still apply — F1 is low pressure on an Evomax as on a Logic — but the response around them is a maintenance-contract conversation as much as a repair. Where Evomax fault codes appear
The Evomax has a digital display showing sequence/status information in normal running and F/L fault codes when tripped. In multi-boiler cascades, check each boiler's display — one module locked out on a code while others carry the load is a common finding, and easy to miss from the plant-room door.
Resetting a Ideal Evomax
Reset via the front panel control; low-pressure faults want system pressure corrected first (commercial systems often have pressurisation units — if yours shows a fault too, start there). On BMS-connected plant, confirm the fault is not being commanded externally before treating it as a boiler fault. Recurring lockouts on commercial plant belong with your maintenance provider promptly.
Common Evomax problems
Evomax installations most often log ignition and flame-supervision faults (burner and electrode wear under commercial run-hours), pressure faults tied to pressurisation-unit issues rather than radiator bleeding, and flue/condensate problems scaled up — a 120kW cascade produces a great deal of condensate. Regular planned maintenance dominates outcomes; run-to-failure is a false economy at these outputs.
