Ideal Logic Fault Codes
The Ideal Logic is one of the best-selling boiler ranges in British history — the Logic Combi above all, plus Logic System, Logic Heat and the up-specced Logic Max variants. Its fault language is compact and consistent: F-codes for the classic faults (F1 low pressure, F2 flame loss, F3 fan, F4/F5 thermistors) and L-codes for lockout states like L2 (flame loss lockout — the one every Logic owner eventually meets). The Logic's simplicity is a virtue in fault-finding: a small display, a short code list, and fifteen years of engineers who know the range inside out. Many of its codes have genuinely quick fixes — F1 is a pressure top-up, L2 in winter is very often a frozen condensate pipe thawed with warm water — and the rest are well-mapped repairs. Where Logic fault codes appear
The Logic has a small display on the front panel: temperature or status in normal running, the fault code (F or L prefix plus a number) when something trips, usually with the flame or warning icon. Note the letter and number exactly — F2 and L2 are related but distinct (the fault versus the resulting lockout).
Resetting a Ideal Logic
Press the reset button (marked RESET or with a flame symbol, model-year dependent) and hold briefly; the boiler retries. F1 wants the system topped up to 1–1.5 bar via the filling loop first. L2 after a cold night: check the condensate pipe for freezing before resetting — thawing it with warm (not boiling) water plus one reset is the standard winter rescue.
Common Logic problems
Logic owners meet F1 (pressure) and L2 (flame loss lockout) far more than anything else, with the winter L2 overwhelmingly a condensate-freeze story on externally run pipes. Beyond those: fan faults (F3), thermistors (F4/F5), and — on hard-worked older Logics — plate heat exchanger scaling affecting hot water. The range is cheap to fix by modern standards; parts are ubiquitous.
